Identity Point
The Identity Plan each CAIRL account starts on, what it includes today, what it does not do, and how the optional packages relate to it.
Identity Point
Identity Point is the Identity Plan each CAIRL account starts on. It lets a person establish and maintain a foundational private identity without charge. Payment does not determine whether that identity exists or remains usable. This page explains what Identity Point is, what it includes today, what it does not do, and how the optional packages relate to it.
What Identity Point is
Identity Point is CAIRL's foundational Identity Plan. An Identity Plan is attached to one person, who administers it. Identity Point is the point of origin for a person's private digital identity, and each CAIRL account begins on it.
Identity Point carries no charge. A person can establish and maintain a foundational private identity without charge, and payment does not determine whether the identity exists or remains usable. Paid services may extend that foundation, but they are not what keeps it in place.
Private here means the broader identity and its history are not open by default and remain governed by the person, applicable authorization, and disclosed legal obligations. It does not mean anonymous, hidden from every authorized recipient, or exempt from processing, retention, or legal obligations.
Is CAIRL free?
Identity Point is free: it carries no charge. The plan each CAIRL account starts on carries no charge, and you do not have to pay to establish or keep your identity in CAIRL.
CAIRL as a whole is not a single free product. Identity Plus, Identity Pro, and Identity Prime are optional paid packages, and pricing for businesses that build on CAIRL is separate from pricing for people. This page states no package or business price. The pricing page for people lists the current packages.
What Identity Point includes
Identity Point includes:
- Your personal identity record and your CAIRL account.
- Identity verification with a supported identity document, when the verification flow is available to your account, and the history of your verifications. The Identity Verification guide describes the flow, the documents it supports, and its current availability.
- Vault for your documents.
- Mail with MailGap aliases, the CAIRL addresses you can offer instead of your primary address. MailGap containment carries no charge, and no Identity Plan is a condition of it.
- Included storage of 1 GB, shared by Vault and Mail on a single storage meter.
Replies from a MailGap alias are subject to sending controls and a daily allowance. The MailGap guide describes how replies work; this page states no allowance figures.
On Identity Point, CAIRL keeps a message received at a MailGap alias for a set period and then removes it; this page states no period. The optional packages keep messages until you delete them.
How Identity Point works today
Creating a CAIRL account places it on Identity Point. Identity Point needs no subscription.
When you are signed in, your account shows Identity Point as its current plan unless an optional package is active. If no optional package is active, for example after one ends, your account runs on Identity Point and Identity Point's allowances apply.
A person holds one Identity Plan at a time.
What Identity Point does not do
- It does not include the larger storage allowance that the optional packages bundle.
- Buying storage beyond the included 1 GB is planned and is not available today. At the storage ceiling, CAIRL holds or refuses the action instead of allowing an overage.
- Individual services for people are priced on a prepaid pay-as-you-go basis under CAIRL's pricing model. Buying an individual service that way is not available today.
Optional packages
Identity Plus, Identity Pro, and Identity Prime are the optional paid Identity Plans. Each includes everything in Identity Point and bundles a larger storage allowance; the pricing page for people lists what else each package includes. None of them is required to establish or keep your identity, and this page states no package price.
The pricing page for people lists the current packages.
Availability
Identity Point is available today. Creating a CAIRL account places it on Identity Point, and an account with no optional package active runs on Identity Point. What Identity Point includes follows each capability's own availability; the Identity Verification guide, for example, states whether its flow is available today.
